Update from Nepal - January 2025
Peter Waddup - CEO, The Leprosy Mission Great Britain
Thank you so much for your continued love and support for people affected by leprosy in Nepal.

You responded so generously to the emergency appeal following the landslides, which helped to mend water pipes, provide food and build supporting walls. This means that Anandaban Hospital continues to provide care, albeit in a reduced capacity.
I want to update you about recent geological surveys, which have shown that the hospital site is not safe and continues to be at risk of landslide. I’m so sad to share that this means the hospital will need to relocate if it is to continue in the future.
The team in Nepal is heartbroken, but they will not give up. They know that you will continue to stand with them, which is such a comfort and encouragement. We have faith that God is in control and already has a plan. Please can I ask you to pray for the team as they seek His will and strategy. This is a difficult time, and decisions need to be made very carefully.
We also need to pray for protection over the hospital site in the meantime.
If you kindly donated to build a new research centre a couple of years ago, I want to assure you that these funds are safe. The research centre will be built in the new location, once this has been found. You were probably as frustrated as I was about the length of time it was taking to get permissions etc to start building the new centre, but it is so clear now that God knew it would have been destroyed had it been built as planned.
This is going to take months to work through, but I’ll update you when I know more.
Thank you again for your unwavering compassion.
